Do You Need a Referral?
It depends on the situation. for coverage by the Romanian public insurance (CAS), a referral from your family doctor for "orthopedics-traumatology" is required. The referral is valid for 30 days. Without a referral, the consultation will be self-pay.
What Does CAS Cover?
Covered: The specialist consultation (with a valid referral). X-rays (with a referral).
What CAS does NOT cover: Hyaluronic acid or PRP injections (self-pay). MRI (requires a specific referral, possible waiting list). Surgical procedures—coverage conditions vary; details will be provided at scheduling.
Practical Tip
If you are unsure what documents you need, please call the office for clarification before your visit. It's easier to handle administrative matters in advance.
